Opening of the bust of the pilot, Hero of the Russian Federation A.S. Maslov by Z.K. Tsereteli

June 26, 2015 at 11.00 in the village of Conductor Kolomensky district of the Moscow region will be a solemn meeting dedicated to the opening of the bust of the Hero of the Russian Federation A.S. Maslov. The author of the sculptural composition is People’s Artist of the USSR and the Russian Federation, President of the Russian Academy of Arts Z.K. Tsereteli.

Alexander Spiridonovich Maslov (11/22/1907 - 06/26/1941) - Soviet military pilot, captain, commander of the 3rd squadron of the 207th long-range bombing regiment of the 42nd aviation division. He died during a sortie, allegedly carrying out a ram of a German mechanized column.

And, S. Maslov was born in the village of Andreevsky, Kolomensky district, Moscow region.

He was drafted into the Red Army in October 1929. From the first hours of the war, Captain A.S. Maslov took part in battles with the Nazi invaders. On June 26, 1941, departing at 8.30 a.m., at the head of an air link for bombing an enemy convoy on the Molodechno-Rodoshkovichi highway, its DB-3F bomber was shot down. Together with the commander, the crew also died. By the decree of the President of the Russian Federation of May 2, 1996, for the courage and heroism shown in the struggle against the Nazi invaders in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, Captain Maslov Alexander Spiridonovich and his crew were posthumously awarded the title of Hero of the Russian Federation.

Name A.S. Maslova immortalized in the names of streets in Kolomna, in the village of Provodnik Kolomensky district of the Moscow region, the name of the secondary school in this village. The hero is dedicated to commemorative plaques installed in the village. A conductor and a memorial sign in the village of Andreevskoye.

The bust is made by Z.K. Tsereteli free of charge and donated. The perpetuation of the memory of historical figures, political figures, outstanding figures of culture, science, art - one of the main areas of activity of the master. According to the artist, this is especially important for the education of the young generation, for the preservation of Russian history.
