VII St. Petersburg International Festival of New Music reMusik.org Automatic translate
The St. Petersburg Center for Contemporary Academic Music reMusik.org presents the VII St. Petersburg International Festival of New Music, which will be held from July 3 to 9, 2020 under the direction of composer Mehdi Hosseini.
Due to the current situation around the coronavirus (COVID-19), the main program of the festival will be presented in the form of open online broadcasts on the portal www.remusik.org with free access for the public.
The reMusik.org festival covers various areas of modern academic music: experimental, electro-acoustic, electronic music, multimedia projects, free improvisation and others.
The St. Petersburg International Festival reMusik.org is the largest festival of new music in Russia. One of the key ideas of the festival is to show the latest trends in the world of academic music. The program includes only world and Russian premieres of works created in recent decades. The compositions are selected so that, despite the complexity and originality of the musical language, special training is not required from the listener. The music presentation format is not limited to traditional academic concerts, but involves performances and experimental performances.
Among the venues annually hosting the festival are the Mariinsky Theater Concert Hall, the New Stage of the Alexandrinsky Theater, the St. Petersburg Philharmonic, New Holland, the Lumiere Hall creative space, Anikushin Workshop, St. Petersburg State Conservatory. N. A. Rimsky-Korsakov and others.
The festival is represented by world-famous musicians, famous ensembles, both classical and experimental, specializing in the performance of new music. This year, such musicians and bands participate as: Les Percussions de Strasbourg (France), Lemniscate (Switzerland), Adapter (Germany), Moscow Contemporary Music Ensemble (Russia), Trio SÆITENWIND (Switzerland), Mixed Sound Personnel (Germany), cellist Yulia Migunova (Russia) with a recital and others.
As part of the VII festival reMusik.org will host the finals of the IV international composers competition named after Sergey Slonimsky, where young composers are given the opportunity to hear their compositions performed by the Moscow Ensemble of Contemporary Music. The scores of the winners will be published by reMusik.org Publishing House.
The educational unit of the reMusik.org festival of new music includes lectures, presentations and creative meetings. Within the framework of the festival, the educational project “Composer online courses” (curated by composer Alexander Khubeev) was presented for the second time, which this year, in connection with world events, took place online from May 21 to June 1. This is a creative laboratory in which young authors from around the world, selected by the jury, are given the opportunity to work with famous guest performers and world-famous composers. Lectures and individual lessons with students were held by recognized masters of composer art Oscar Bianchi (Switzerland), Joanna Bailey (Great Britain), Yuri Kasparov (Russia), Dmitry Kurlandsky (Russia) and Rafael Sendo (France).Within seven days the invited groups will perform the compositions of the participants of the Composer Courses at the festival.
The program of the festival, in addition to works by foreign authors, will include premieres of works by Russian composers such as Vladimir Rannev, Yuri Kasparov, Dmitry Kurlyandsky, Natalya Prokopenko, Arman Gushchyan, Yuri Akkalkan, Alexandra Korableva, Alexandra Filonenko, Svetlana Lavrova, Roman Parkhomenko, Daria Zvezdina and others.
The festival is supported by the Government of St. Petersburg, the Committee on Culture of St. Petersburg, the Swiss Council for Culture Pro Helvetius, the French Institute, the Embassy of Switzerland in Russia, the Consulate General of Switzerland in St. Petersburg, the Consulate General of Germany in St. Petersburg, the Consulate General of the Kingdom Belgium in St. Petersburg, Polish Institute in St. Petersburg.
