Exhibition of Nikita Alekseev "Platonic Love. Vegetables - Fruits" in the gallery "Peresvet Lane."

On March 17, at 19:00, the Peresvetov Pereulok Gallery and ХL PROJECTS present the “Paper Only” program, which opens with Nikita Alekseev’s exhibition “Platonic Love. Vegetables fruits".

The “Paper Only” program is not limited to works created exclusively on this “medium”. “Paper” here is a word that traditionally gives rise to an association with drawing, drawing. And the main emphasis on the drawing of contemporary artists.

We decided not to adhere to the chronological principle, focusing on the works that are being created "here and now." Indeed, the classic art in process is more honest, interesting, flexible, able to keep the viewer in suspense; and we hope that this program will give the necessary impetus to the study and understanding of Russian drawing in professional circles and will be interesting to the viewer, partly restoring the lost tradition of regular exhibitions of graphic artists that existed in Soviet times.

The project is designed for several years. This year, drawings of artists of different generations will be presented: Nikita Alekseev, Denis Salautin, Boris Matrosov, Svetlana Shuvaeva and Ilya Dolgov.

It is no coincidence that these exhibitions are held in the Peresvetov Lane gallery. It was here, at the turn of the 1980s and 90s, that the first exhibitions of KLAVA (the Avant-Garde Club) took place, which became the first public displays of independent art of this period.

At the exhibition “Platonic Love. Vegetables - Fruits ”presents graphic paired“ portraits ”of vegetables and fruits adjacent to real prototype products.

Professor Giovanni Cucci, Pontifical Gregorian University, Rome: “Nikita Alekseev’s project is another variation on the theme of fragmentation and reunification. As you know, Plato proposed a theory according to which all things and thoughts have a prototype - “eidos”. The vicious development of the world is the removal of things and thoughts from eidos, their division into halves and subsequent fractional series, and the passion of fragmented unhappy thoughts and things born of this decay, reunited in the integrity of eidos. This is "platonic love."

Russian artist Nikita Alekseev was born in 1953 in Moscow. He began his artistic career in the 1970s. The artist defines the early period of his work as "an abstraction of a surrealistic sense." In the 1980s, he created the collective action group and founded the APART movement. One of the leaders of the Moscow conceptual school.

Modern art is explored from different angles: from a Marxist, formalist one, from the point of view of psychoanalysis, but there is another important area - theology. Nikita Alekseev will talk about various speculative interpretations of twentieth-century art from the point of view of Gnosticism.

Gallery "Peresvetov Lane" exists on Avtozavodskaya for almost three decades. There were shocking actions of the underground of the 1980s, conceptual exhibitions and performances of the Avant-Garde Club (KLAVA) and impromptu shows of the Order of Courtyard Mannerists of the 1990s. Such famous artists as Avdey Ter-Oganyan, Vladimir Dubosarsky, Aidan Salakhova, Valery Koshlyakov began their career in the gallery. The Peresvetov Pereulok Gallery is a territory of an art experiment, innovative ideas and classics outside the archaic, one of the legendary centers of the artistic life of Moscow.
