Im thrilled by these paintings!! I love autumn so much. The artist beautifully captures the autumnal theme in his paintings: rain, foliage, streetlights... solitary walks... reflections. When I look at his paintings, I can almost smell the leaves and hear the sound of the rain! RESPECT TO LEONID!

In the immediate foreground, a bank of earth is rendered in thick impasto strokes, utilizing a palette of ochre, burnt sienna, and touches of emerald green. This area serves as an anchor for the scene, grounding the viewer within the landscape. A small cluster of yellow flowers punctuates this base, adding a touch of brightness against the darker tones.
The central focus is the waterfall itself. The water appears to be rushing over rocks, depicted with energetic brushwork in shades of white and pale blue, suggesting movement and dynamism. The surrounding vegetation along the riverbank is painted with a similar intensity, utilizing greens and yellows to convey the richness of the natural environment.
Dominating the upper portion of the painting are several trees whose leaves have transitioned into brilliant hues of red, orange, and yellow. These colors are applied in short, choppy strokes, creating a sense of visual excitement and mimicking the fluttering of leaves in a breeze. The trunks of these trees are rendered with vertical brushstrokes, emphasizing their height and solidity against the vibrant canopy.
The artist’s technique is characterized by an expressive use of impasto, which lends a tactile quality to the work. Light seems to emanate from within the painting itself, particularly from the foliage and the cascading water, creating a luminous effect. The dark background serves as a foil for these bright colors, intensifying their impact.
Subtly, the scene evokes feelings of tranquility and renewal. While the vibrant color palette suggests an exuberant display of natures beauty, the presence of the waterfall implies a constant cycle of change and regeneration. The composition’s layered structure could be interpreted as representing the complexities of life – the grounding stability of the earth juxtaposed with the fleeting beauty of the foliage and the relentless flow of time symbolized by the water.
