Exhibition of paintings by Mikhail Schwartzman at the State Center for Contemporary Art

A conversation with the future through art is the main theme of the creative path of Mikhail Schwartzman, the exhibition of which was prepared by his students. From August 3, for two weeks, visitors to the Center for Contemporary Art in Moscow will be able to get acquainted with a classic of the Russian avant-garde artist who creates canvases containing hundreds of encoded characters at the call of his own soul.

Schwarzman did not consider himself a brotherhood of artists, he was convinced that the less a person focuses on his era and the more he addresses future times, the better his fate will be, the more he will be able to bring peace to the world. Selecting young artists as his students, he drew attention not so much to the skills or originality of their technique as to his sparkling eyes - the most vivid evidence that a person will follow his vocation.

All his works are concepts, “hieratures” (sacred letters, the master’s own invention). The master sought not only to draw, but to encode information in each picture using various signs, symbols, and color matching. And visitors to understand his work will have to perceive it not only at the level of emotions, but also intellectually. Not many manage to decipher the messages of the artist, but even without a complete understanding of the paintings, they leave a huge mark on the soul of the beholder.

The development of fantasy, creativity, deep feeling of paint, Mikhail Shvartsman paid great attention to. And it is not surprising, because if the artist does not completely surrender to the act of creation, his paintings will be soulless pieces of cardboard, spoiled by bright rags of the canvas. Without a soul, art becomes kitsch and loses its value to humanity.
