Unique three-dimensional painting of the St. Petersburg artist Lydia Leontyeva Automatic translate
ST. PETERSBURG. Today in the hall of the Baltic Media Center, located in the area of Kamennoostrovsky Prospekt, the exhibition "Pictures and Lights" opened, the exposition of which was the work of St. Petersburg artist Lidia Leontieva, written in a unique authorial manner. The technique in which the artist’s work is done is called “REGILE” - a relief painting by Leontyeva.
The uniqueness of this technique, invented by the author of the works, is so amazing that the name has already merged with the name of the artist, turning into a pseudonym. Even in the press you can often see articles about Lydia Leontyeva, in which she is called Lydia Regile.
A unique atmosphere reigns in the artist’s paintings - painting, combined with voluminous bas-reliefs, allows you to turn the image in the picture into the real world. The plots depicted in the works of Lydia Leontyeva can be viewed not only from the usual perspective, but also in profile. Writing such paintings requires painstaking and time-consuming work, but the result is impressive.
In Italy, a similar technique is called "impasto", that is, "from the dough." The paint, when performing paintings in this technique, is used so thick that this term is fully true. The volume in the paintings is created by the contour along the edge of the picture, and different levels of this contour give them unusual dynamics and depth.
In the works of Leontyeva you can see voluminous cities that look like real windows into the world represented in the paintings, landscapes and portraits. In order to fully see the artist’s intention, an accurate setting of the light is necessary, because it is the light that allows you to see the amazing depth of images and moods in the paintings.
The works of Lydia Regile can be seen until January 17th.
