"Dreams of an octopus" can be seen by residents of Irkutsk

IRKUTSK. On March 4, an art-ethnographic exhibition, “Dreams of an Octopus,” began in Irkutsk, which included works by indigenous peoples of America.

The exposition consisted of 50 graphic works that were performed by the Indians of modern reservations in various techniques and styles. Moreover, many artists sought to combine two cultural layers - a kind of tradition and the most vivid images of mass culture.

A part of the masters prefers to work in traditional subjects and in his works he sanctifies the features of the family way of life, ancient legends and myths. At the moment, over four hundred Indian tribes are registered in the United States, which have differences in language, lifestyle, and worldview. Each of these aspects influences the formation of a creative personality, therefore, all works are distinguished by their original character, while being created in surprisingly refined technique.

Closer to get acquainted with the creative beginning of the indigenous peoples of America, city residents have the opportunity until March 21, visiting the Irkutsk Art Museum.
