The first solo exhibition of the painter SURO in the hall of the Ministry of Agriculture

MOSCOW. On May 20, a personal exhibition of paintings by Suren Mkrtchan, a member of the Moscow Union of Artists, opened in the Exhibition Hall of the Ministry of Agriculture. Lovers of painting, he is well known under the pseudonym Suro - so the artist signs his work.

Suren Mkrtchan was born in 1952 in Tbilisi, but just a year after his birth, the family moved to Yerevan, where the future painter spent his childhood and youth. Suren’s father worked as the main director of the theater, so the family lived in an atmosphere filled with a love of art.

Suren made his first steps towards creativity as a child, starting to play the violin, but later began to study at an art school. The continuation of this study was the receipt of higher education at the Yerevan Theater and Art Institute.

Having received a diploma, the young artist came to Moscow. He was led to the capital by a desire to exhibit his works, then to become a member of the Union of Artists. However, fate was not too supportive of the young talent - service in the army followed, and housing problems arose upon return.

At this time, Mkrtchan was engaged in graphics, since the artist did not have a place where he could paint. Over time, the housing problem was resolved and serious work began. The artist was distracted from painting only for a dream. The results were obvious - in the early nineties Suren’s works, executed in a bright and colorful style, became well known to connoisseurs of painting.

He joined the Union of Moscow Artists in 1985. This was followed by a series of personal exhibitions in European cities, as well as in the capital’s exhibition halls. In the hall of the Ministry of Agriculture, this is the first exhibition of the painter Suro. You can visit it until June 1st, however, at Chistye Prudy there is SURO studio, where Suren’s work is always represented.
