In the hall of the Ministry of Agriculture opens an exhibition for the anniversary of the artist Elsa Khokhlovkina

MOSCOW. The Moscow Artists Exhibition Hall invites you to visit the anniversary exhibition of the artist Elsa Khokhlovkina, open to visitors from February 25th. Elsa Davidovna celebrates her eightieth birthday.

The artist was born in Donetsk, the first place of study was Moscow Art School, and further art education was received within the walls of the famous Institute. Surikov. Many years later, she still remembers her teachers with gratitude. However, although she entered the institute without problems, difficulties arose in the year of writing the thesis.

The first version of the diploma picture, for the collection of materials for which it was spent two years, was considered not appropriate for the status of the Soviet artist. The canvas depicted people relaxing on the beach, and the diploma picture was supposed to glorify the work of Soviet people.

I had to change the topic to another one that meets the requirements. Summer vacations gave way to winter skiing; the picture showed young people leaving the tram. Its red color, when viewing the work, reminded one of the teachers of the work of the French artist Andre Fougeron. This comparison was an occasion for the young artist to start a correspondence with the French master, which lasted for many years.

The first place of work of the young artist was the filmstrip studio, and since 1967, after joining the Ministry of Agriculture, Elsa Davidovna worked at a picturesque factory until 1990. All the years the artist worked a lot, traveled almost the whole country. Since 1959, she actively participated in exhibitions.

The dream of visiting museums in European countries came true at Elsa Davidovna only after the start of perestroika. At the same time, the first personal exhibition of the artist was held at the Central House of Artists, after which her work gained fame.
