NIZHNY NOVGOROD. Until the end of the New Year holidays, the exhibition will open, which will open on December 11 at the Art Museum, which will present a collection of paintings by recognized masters of Russian 20th-century painting. The exhibition included 15 paintings donated to the museum from a private collection.

The action took place thanks to the Moscow charity fund, led by Elena and Gennady Timchenko. Thanks to the patrons of art, the museum’s fund was replenished with 13 paintings and 2 graphic works. At the opening of the exhibition, the director of the art museum was solemnly presented with an act on the transfer of paintings.

For the last decades, the museum received a gift of this scale for the first time. Prior to this unique gift in the history of the museum, there was the only such case when, in honor of its opening, the museum fund received paintings donated by the great fellow countryman of Nizhny Novgorod - Maxim Gorky.

All works that have substantially expanded the museum collection were created in the period from 1930 to 2000. After the exhibition, all the paintings can be seen in the permanent exhibition of the Art Museum of Nizhny Novgorod.

At the opening of the exhibition, Deputy Governor Dmitry Svyatkovsky said that the canvases presented on display are largely a reflection of the fate of their authors, which are firmly connected with the fate of the country.

Roman Zhukarin, director of the Nizhny Novgorod Museum, in his gratitude speech said that all the donated works are of the highest artistic level.The variety of genres presented in the collection allows us to call the opened exhibition a retrospective of the development of domestic art, originating in the years of the formation of the method of social realism, and ending with the post-Soviet period.
