Exhibition project for the anniversary of Boris Grebenshchikov opened in MMOMA

MOSCOW. The exhibition project, called "The Interior Properties of the Landscape", opened on November 4 in the metropolitan museum of modern art. The project is dedicated to the sixtieth birthday of Boris Grebenshchikov, the leader of the Aquarium group, and is a retrospective of the work of the musician, poet and artist.

Although Boris Grebenshchikov has been known as an artist since 1985, after participating in the first official exhibition of the Mitki creative group, such a retrospective exhibition representing his artistic work was opened for the first time.

The exposition of the exhibition consists of paintings made by Grebenshchikov in various creative periods. Next to them were drawings and copyright photographs. Visitors to the exhibition during its inspection will hear music written by the author specifically for the project. As part of the project, several films will be shown.

The exhibition presented at MMOMA is a study of the artistic work of Boris Grebenshchikov in conjunction with the St. Petersburg underground, the heyday of which is associated with the cultural revolution of the eighties of the last century.

Grebenshchikov’s early works, created during the period when Mitkov became famous, as well as the Mitkov paintings, are very close to urban folklore. The paintings and drawings of this time are equipped with long titles explaining the plots, thereby combining painting and literature.

The painting created by Grebenshchikov after the two thousandth year is already written in a different style. Among the paintings, landscapes predominate, which are no longer the backdrop for stories, but are independent works that arouse interest in the accuracy of the details noticed by the artist, the tenderness with which they are written.

The original project will be open to visitors until January 12th.
