An exhibition dedicated to the Olympics was opened at the Museum of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk

SOUTH SAKHALINSK. Visitors to the regional art museum got the opportunity to get acquainted with the works of masters of art on sports subjects. The exhibition "On Sport!", Organized by museum staff on the eve of the upcoming Olympics, features 73 artworks.

All works are the property of the museum. The exhibition “About Sport!” Gathered painting, graphic works, and even sculpture, sports posters in one exhibition space. According to the organizer of the exhibition, Alena Kaygorodova, several years ago a similar exhibition was held in the small exhibition hall of the museum.

During the time that has passed since the end of the previous exhibition, the museum has significantly expanded its collection of works of art on topics related to sports. Now, to accommodate the exhibition’s exposition, a large museum hall was already required.

At the opening of the exhibition was attended by Viktor Scheglov, a representative of the Ministry of Culture of Sakhalin, noting the importance of the exhibition, giving rise to a sense of pride for our athletes. Pupils who attended the opening of the exhibition were surprised to learn that Alexander Buryka, director of the art museum, is not only an artist, but a candidate for master of sports. His hobby was weightlifting.

If you pay attention to the creation dates of the works presented at the exhibition, it is obvious that earlier artists paid much more attention to sports topics. Now this topic is practically not in demand. Therefore, creating the opening exhibition, museum staff turned to their collections.

Many of the works are presented for the first time. The collection of sports posters is especially interesting for visitors to the exhibition. It will be possible to get acquainted with them until February 24th.
