Two exhibitions for the anniversary of the artist Alexander Sorochkin opened in Lipetsk

LIPETSK. The regional museum of local lore in honor of the anniversary of the Lipetsk artist Alexander Sorochkin, who turned 75 on February 16, prepared the exhibition “I Will Contact My Friends…”. The exhibition included 18 works of the hero of the day, performed in the 70-80s, when the artist was at the very peak of his creative career.

It is difficult to find bright colors in landscapes, still lifes, graphic works by the artist, dark colors prevail in them, there are no unnecessary details. The restraint of the "severe style" characteristic of the paintings by Alexander Sorochkin fills his works with anxiety and drama.

In the exhibition you can see a portrait of the artist V. S. Sorochkin, whom Alexander Mikhailovich considers his main teacher. Many artists are familiar with the views of Gurzuf, presented in a graphic series made in the Gurzuf House of Creativity. The exhibition exposition is supplemented by the works of other Lipetsk artists, friends and students of Alexander Sorochkin.

Unfortunately, the artist himself could not attend the opening of the exhibition, he has been seriously ill for several years. Present was the wife of Alexander Mikhailovich, Olga Sorochkina. Friends and colleagues of the artist came. The exhibition in the museum of local lore presented works from its collection.

The exposition of the works of Alexander Sorochkin that opened a little earlier in the Nazarov Gallery can be called unique. Here were presented works created both at the beginning of the career (60-70s), and written by the artist in the last year of his creative activity, completed by Alexander Mikhailovich about ten years ago, in connection with the disease. All works for the exhibition were provided by private collectors, so you can only see them until February 28th.
