Delivered in Lipetsk, "Uncle Vanya" was invited to the festival before the premiere

LIPETSK. On the small stage of the Academic Theater. Tolstoy March 21, the audience plunged into the world of Chekhov’s heroes. Sergei Bobrovsky, the head of the theater, presented to the public a new work - his reading of the play "Uncle Vanya". For the theater, an appeal to Chekhov was not only the fulfillment of the conditions of the annual Melikhov Spring festival, where theater actors traditionally take part, but also reverence for the talent of the great writer.

The director of the play, Sergey Bobrovsky, taking up his production, understood that the work would be difficult, because the play was familiar to the audience literally literally. In addition, in the hundred-plus years that have passed since the creation of the play, the world has changed - the problems that worried people in those days can be completely incomprehensible to our contemporaries.

In order to bring the world of Chekhov’s heroes closer, to make their behavior clearer for the audience, Sergey Bobrovsky made the characters of the play younger than Chekhov described. Thanks to this find, viewers understand that, like the middle-aged generation, both Dr. Astrov and Uncle Vanya understand the reasons for the outrages that are happening around them, only they can’t fix something.

A huge plus of the performance is that when it is staged on a small stage, it is as close as possible to the audience. The emotions read on the faces of the actors make the audience better understand their confusion, disappointment, see the storm of feelings that breaks the souls of the characters.

The applause of the audience confirmed that although the performance was staged for the festival, it will certainly become a favorite among city theatergoers. It is even more pleasant for the theater staff that “Uncle Vanya” has already been selected by experts and will participate in the competitive program of the international festival “Slavic Crown”, which will present a small-form theater.
