The All-Russian Exhibition of Watercolor Opened in the Art Museum of Kurgan

MOUND. A significant number of guests, united by a love of art, gathered in the regional art museum on the opening day of the All-Russian exhibition of watercolors, held for the fourth time. The opening was attended by Vladimir Babin, head of the regional culture department. In his greeting addressed to the exhibitors, he promised that everything possible would be done so that the next exhibition would take place.

At the opening ceremony, the presentation of diplomas of the laureates of the exhibition took place. They were received by 25 artists whose works were recognized as the best. In total, over 150 watercolor artists living in various regions of Russia became participants in the exhibition. For the first time, an art museum prepared and issued a booklet for the opening of the exhibition, which tells about the authors of watercolor works, supplemented by a CD-ROM, which contains reproductions of exhibition works.

The first exhibition of watercolors, which brought together in its exposition the work of artists from all over Russia, was held in 2002. Every year it became more and more popular, attracting an increasing number of people wishing to participate in it. This year, the works selected by the organizers to create the exhibition occupied almost the entire exhibition space of the museum. In total, the exposition included about four hundred watercolors, diverse in technique.

The choice of the Kurgan as a venue for exhibitions is not accidental. Here is a unique collection of watercolor works. Among cultural workers, the issue of creating a “Watercolor Museum” in the city has long been raised. This idea has been relevant for a long time, only there is no suitable building for its implementation.
