"Obsession" - a new exhibition of Peter Tatarnikov opened in the Fountain House

ST. PETERSBURG. The works of Petersburg artist Peter Tatarnikov can often be seen in the Fountain House - the museum of Anna Akhmatova. Since February 26th, in the Big Exhibition Hall of the house-museum you can visit its new exhibition, presented to the guests of the Fountain House under the name "Obsession".

Why this artist chose this name for the exposition of his works, it becomes clear if you open an explanatory dictionary. One of the meanings of the word “Obsession” is an inexplicable idea that arises in people against their will. This word can be called the creative process of the artist - the idea of his future work becomes an obsession, requiring the completion of the creative process.

Such an obsession for Peter Tatarnikov was Petersburg, the artist’s hometown. If you collect all the paintings written by the artist, then most of them are filled with views of St. Petersburg. If you look closely, it becomes clear that the Summer Garden was his favorite place, inspiring the artist to work.

The works of Peter Tatarnikov included in the exposition are dominated by landscapes of the Summer Garden. Created in different techniques and forms, at different times of the year, the artist’s work allows you to get acquainted with his favorite corners located in the garden space. Many of them are presented in a water frame - this is Peter Tatarnikov’s most favorite St. Petersburg theme. His garden landscapes are perfect compositions, exquisite in color.

The water area of St. Petersburg is also represented by the picturesque series “Ice drift”, which is the opposite of the landscapes of the Summer Garden. Angles and broken lines predominate in images of colliding ice floes.
