The long-awaited exhibition of the works of the great Raphael in the Pushkin Museum im. Pushkin received the first visitors

MOSCOW. The exhibition "Raphael, Poetry of the Image", which opened for the first visitors to the museum on September 13, has been preparing for a long time. Until the very last days, the Pushkin Museum employees doubted whether the three Italian museums had agreed to part for three months with eleven unique masterpieces, sending them to an exhibition in Moscow.

An exhibition of works by Raphael of such a scale appeared before Russian art lovers for the first time. Earlier in Moscow showed only a few individual works created by the famous Italian master. At the exhibition, which opened in the Pushkin Museum, museum visitors will see eight paintings and three graphic works.

The master devoted three religious paintings to the paintings. Among them are such masterpieces as “Saint Cecilia”, “Angel” and “Madonna and Child”. The exposition also included a preparatory drawing for the Madonna.

The remaining works, arrived from Italy, represent the portrait genre. On one of them is the famous self-portrait of Raphael, painted by him at the age of 23. For many painters, the image created by the artist in a self-portrait became an example for his own interpretations.

It is possible to visit the exhibition until December 11th. The staff of the Pushkin Museum did everything to provide a comfortable visit to the exhibition for those wishing to see Raphael’s masterpieces. Organized even ticket sales online. However, on the opening day, the first visitors to the exhibition gathered at the entrance to the Pushkin Museum long before its work began.

According to Evgenia Kiselyova, who heads the museum’s marketing department, 400 people managed to see the masterpieces of the Italian master in the first one and a half hours of the exhibition. Visiting the exposition is organized by sessions, each of which will last 45 minutes. By purchasing tickets online, you can spend 1, 5 hours at the exhibition.
