Do you like Brahms performed by Lill and the Borodin quartet? The answer is yes.

MOSCOW. The performance of the British pianist John Lill and the Borodin quartet took place in the Tchaikovsky Hall.

Lill and the Borodin quartet are almost the same age. The British pianist is only a year older than the collective, based in the winning forty-fifth. They are united not only by age, but also by brilliant craftsmanship. Lill is one of the celestials of the piano Olympus, who showed exceptional talent, like Mozart, at a very young age. In the piggy bank of his awards there is also the first prize of the Tchaikovsky competition, which he values very much. He loves Beethoven and feels his support, does not like to listen to his notes, never repeats himself, performing any work the next time differently. Depending on the mood, state of mind and time when he is behind the tool.

During the existence of the Borodin quartet, many compositions changed in it. But each of the musicians whose creative life at one time or another was connected with the collective can be called an outstanding professional. It is enough to list a few names: Mstislav Rostropovich, Dmitry Shebalin, Rostislav Dubinsky, Valentin Berlin. The main milestones of the collective’s history are many years of collaboration with Richter and Shostakovich, the reference performance of works by Borodin, Schnittke, Prokofiev, Tchaikovsky. The current composition - violin virtuosos Agaronyan and Lomovsky, cellist Balshin, violist Naydin - maintain the highest level of performance traditional for this band. They say about them: four equal and great.

Brahms’ sophisticated piano quartet turned out to be a very good choice for a joint performance, which made it possible to demonstrate filigree technique and complete mutual understanding. Everyone won: Lille, the Borodin quartet, the audience and Brahms.
