A gift from the company "Melody" - all the symphonies of Dmitry Shostakovich in one set

MOSCOW. On the occasion of the 110th anniversary of the birth of Dmitry Dmitrievich Shostakovich, a box set with all his symphonies was released.

The jubilee year for Shostakovich, having barely begun, has already presented many wonderful events to the fans of his music. Anniversary concerts, festivals, staging the opera-buff "Orango" at the Perm Opera (another victory of Theodor Currentzis). In February, the triumphant return of Katerina Izmaylova staged by Rimas Tuminas on the stage of the Bolshoi Theater took place.

A month later - another grand gift from the company "Melody": a stylish box set with 10 discs, on which all 15 symphonies of Dmitry Dmitrievich are recorded. Rare records, surnames of the best domestic conductors of the 20th century: Mravinsky, Temirkanov, Svetlanov, Rozhdestvensky. The latter was not afraid to perform the composer’s works at the time of his lengthy disgrace, and his discography also includes all the symphonies of Dmitry Dmitrievich and the works he wrote for the stage.

The last symphony, recorded in the presence of the author, is presented on disk by his son, pianist and conductor Maxim Shostakovich. His failure to return from the tour could lead to the loss of this record. Such "misconduct" of creative people in Soviet times was punished very harshly: by prohibition, extinction and oblivion. On one of the discs, in the recording of symphony No. 14, one can hear the voice of Galina Pavlovna Vishnevskaya, one of the best performers of the party, Katerina Izmailova.
