The "Meetings in Russia" festival opened with a theater performance from Belarus

ST. PETERSBURG. The festival of Russian-language theaters “Meetings in Russia”, held in St. Petersburg for the fifteenth time, began its work with a meeting of spectators with a theater from Brest, which presented its stage reading of the cult youth novel by Salinger. Director Timothy Ilyevsky, working on the play "The Catcher in the Rye", took a new approach to the eternal theme of the formation of the human person.

Spectators and guests of the festival in a short time to get acquainted with the works of theater groups from eleven countries. Among the participants of the festival there are groups that are well known to the audience of St. Petersburg, there are theaters, whose work has yet to be met.

For the first time, the Youth Theater from Moldova “From the Street of Roses” will present its work. From a small theater-studio, it has become a well-known collective that has received awards from many festivals. Young actors from Moldova brought to the festival the performance "Equus", staged by the head of the theater Yuri Harmelin.

Since the festival is anniversary and takes place under the motto “Fifteen years together!”, The organizers of the festival provided an opportunity for spectators to see the best works of theaters participating in festivals of past years. In the section “Favorites”, performances of groups from Uzbekistan and Tajikistan will be shown, and the Puppet Theater from Grodno will show “The Queen of Spades”.
