The theater festival "Bright Souls" was held in Togliatti.

TOLYATTI. For three days, the theatergoers of Togliatti got acquainted with the performances staged by the theaters of different cities based on the works of Vasily Shukshin. This opportunity was obtained thanks to the Drama Theater "Wheel", which became the initiator of the theater festival, which opened on November 21.

The festival, dedicated to the works of Shukshin, was called "Bright Souls". For the first time in Russia, a theater forum took place, within the framework of which only those performances were shown where the prose of an outstanding Russian writer was used. Eight theater groups from metropolitan and provincial Russian cities came to Togliatti to participate in the festival "Bright Souls".

Four stage venues of the city were provided for showing performances. At a press conference preceding the opening of the theater forum, Vladimir Khrushchev, head of the Wheel Theater, noted that for theater artists and spectators, this theater festival was a great opportunity to meet people united by common ideas.

The first to present the play “There is a Soul” is a Folk Drama Theater from St. Petersburg, created at the Alexander Nevsky Lavra. The three stories of Shukshin, which became the basis of the production, do not have a common plot, but they are united by a common idea of the search for good. Theater artists accompany the performance with folk songs. The authors of the performance were awarded with a prize in the nomination “I believe!”.

It is impossible to tell in detail about all the performances presented in the festival poster. It is interesting that the play "Freaks" was shown twice - on the opening day it was played by the actors of the youth theater from Volgograd, and on the last festival day - in the evening of November 23, the Krasnodar Youth Theater presented the same production in the "Wheel" theater.
