The results of the 68th Cannes Film Festival

CANNES. The competition of the best filmmakers in the world for the main prize of the 68th Cannes Film Festival - "Golden Palm Branch" has come to an end. The winner of one of the most prestigious film forums in the world was the film of French director Jacques Odiar "Dipan".

The winner of the Grand Prix, the second most important award in Cannes, was recognized by the Hungarian film director Laszlo Nemesh "Son of Saul", which tells about two terrible days of Saul Auslanderrer spent in Auschwitz.

The award for the best female role was shared by two actresses - Frenchwoman Emmanuelle Berco for the game in the movie "My King" and American Rooney Mara for the picture "Carol". The prize for Best Actor was received by French actor Vincent Lyndon, who played in the drama “The Simple Man”. According to the plot of the picture, his character has to choose - quit his job or become an informer.

The jury prize went to the surreal drama "Lobster" with Colin Farrell. The American film "Chronicles" directed by Michelle Franco received a prize for the best screenplay. The Chinese director Hou Xiaosian was named the best director for the tape “Killer”. The owner of the Golden Camera, awarded for the best full-length debut, was Caesar Augusto Achevedo for his painting "Earth and Shadow", which was presented in the section "Criticism Week"

This year, the Cannes Film Festival did not pass by Russian cinema. The film by the Russian director Maria Guskova “The Return of Erkin” received the award of the Cinefondation student film contest. The film tells about the fate of a resident of the Kyrgyz provinces, who returned to his native village after serving a sentence for the murder of a fellow countryman. Most of the actors involved in the filming are non-professionals. The film was shot in a small village in the Jalal-Abad region of Kyrgyzstan.
