Memoirs of war veterans in the premiere performance of the Irkutsk Youth Theater "Winner"

IRKUTSK. Artists of the Irkutsk Youth Theater named after Vampilov presented a new work by director Alexander Grechman - the play "Winner". The premiere of the performance dedicated to the Victory Day anniversary took place on May 5th. To create the play, the director used the military works of Victor Astafyev and the memories of Innokenty Smoktunovsky. The author of the performance is the director himself.

The work of Alexander Grechman is well known to theatergoers in Irkutsk. The director has been the director of his own theater for over twenty years. Over the years, the author’s theater of Alexander Grechman has earned the loyalty of its viewers, has its own creative style and a solid repertoire. Most of the actors of this theater do not have professional education, but this does not interfere with its popularity among the public.

Alexander Grechman works with the artists of the Irkutsk Youth Theater for the third time. One of the performances, “Hello and Goodbye,” was staged for the 75th anniversary of Vampilov. The “Duel”, based on the play by Anna Starodubtseva, was the beginning of a new project proposed by the Youth Theater - “Scene for Everyone”. This play is interesting in its original approach to depicting the Pushkin era - through the poet’s internal attitude to it.

In his new work, Alexander Grechman combined the memories of two talented people. One of them gained fame as a writer, the second became popular for his unique acting talent. The director turned to their memories, since everyone became the author of true memories of the war on behalf of a soldier who passed along front-line roads.

Alexander Grechman did not create his play in order to play a war, but to show his attitude to history through memoirs written by front-line soldiers - a writer and artists, having done so without officialdom and parade.
