Cherepovets hosts the Golden Mask festival

TERRY. The theaters of the city again got the opportunity to see the best metropolitan performances that became the nominees for the Golden Mask 2016. This is an important event - the Golden Mask festival, the same name with the prestigious Russian award, takes place in Cherepovets for the sixth time. As always, the project actively supports the management of Severstal, the city hall.

This fall, the program for showing the best performances awarded the Golden Mask Award received state support in the form of a grant from the Russian president. This help was touched upon by the president and the Cherepovets festival, which is extremely important for the city and the entire Vologda Oblast. Since 2010, when the first Golden Mask festival took place in Cherepovets, fans of theatrical art were able to see 13 performances shown by Moscow theaters.

At a press conference held before the opening of the festival, Cherepovets mayor Yuri Kuzin talked about the fact that despite the skeptics’ statement about the small number of theater-goers in the city, theatrical art has enough fans. Thanks to the Golden Mask festival, they can compare the quality of theater performances and the work of directors. This becomes the basis for the further creative development of local theaters.

This time Cherepovets was visited by two metropolitan theaters. The first to show his new work was the theater named after Pushkin. For three evenings, viewers could see the musical Christmas O. Henry at the Cherepovets Chamber Theater. The basis of the musical was the story “Gifts of the Magi”. Director Alexey Frandetti became not only the creator of the play, but also the author of poetry tests. There are no tickets at the box office for a long time to the performance of the Moscow Youth Theater “Don’t part with your loved ones, which will be shown on November 14-15 at the Stroitel recreation center.
