In the Chelyabinsk Opera House, the characters of "Eugene Onegin" were among the ice and water flows

CHELYABINSK. The dress rehearsal of the new version of "Eugene Onegin" was held at the Chelyabinsk Opera House on April 7. The hall was attended by loyal friends of the theater, journalists and theater critics. The unusual performance, which surprised the first spectators, was in many ways different from the usual classical productions.

The international team of directors, led by Polish director Michal Znaniecki, not only came up with original scenery for each of the performances of the play. In the performance they staged, the characters of the heroes began to differ significantly from the usual viewers. But many of the public sitting in the hall almost by heart know the text of the Pushkin novel.

The design of almost all the scenes of the performance is made in dark colors, only bright highlights are reflected from the mirror walls. And when the ballet and the choir come together in a white living wall, another independent character of the performance appears - water. She becomes an element, dragging into the depths Tatiana, who has fallen into despair. It turns into tears of Onegin, who realized that near happiness flows from his hands along with flowing water.

For director Michal Znanetski, Eugene Onegin became a debut on the Russian stage. He staged this opera in many countries, but there he tried to show the audience the beauty of Pushkin’s poetry and the charm of Tchaikovsky’s music. In the production of Onegin for Russian viewers, the director was interested in looking into the depths of the character of the characters.

Therefore, when creating the play, Michal Znanetski tried to wake the audience with feelings, not following the exact plot of the book, but starting from Tchaikovsky’s opera. In the role of Onegin in this performance, Vladimir Borovikov, who played a major role in the previous version of the production.

The official premiere of "Eugene Onegin" was presented to Chelyabinsk spectators on April 8.
