"Baby by November" - the premiere of the play in Veliky Novgorod

VELIKIY NOVGOROD. Drama Theater On March 16, Dostoevsky presented the audience with a new work by Mikhail Mamedov. The main director transferred the plot of the story written by the famous writer Leonid Zhukhovitsky to the stage. “Baby by November” - under this title the story of Zhukhovitsky was published, the film also appeared on the screens in the early 90s.

Mikhali Mammadov considered that the performance does not need a new name, but its plot should be brought closer to modern realities, making it more understandable to today’s audience. The topics raised by the writer in his story always remain relevant. It is not so important in what era events take place, people always tend to fall in love and be disappointed, to run away from loneliness, to look for a way to solve life’s failures.

There are no recipes, following which a person must find his own happiness. Numerous attempts by the main character of the play to meet her “half” turn into disappointments. The chance that suddenly appeared after the demolition of the house where the heroine lives makes her think about the birth of a child. Only in this way can she get a full-fledged housing.

Now Dasha begins to look for an attractive man, not in order to fall in love with him. She needs a father for her planned birth. However, several attempts to find a candidate for paternity are again unsuccessful. The desire to have a baby for the heroine of the play is not only a way to improve housing conditions.

She realizes that the birth of a baby is more important as an opportunity to escape from loneliness. As a result, a chance meeting changes the fate of the heroine. The audience warmly accepted the new performance, because in its story about the search for love, many found similarities with their own fates.
