Two paintings by Picasso returned to their owners

The most frequently mentioned artist in news feeds around the world these days was Pablo Picasso. Immediately two of his paintings, implicated in almost detective stories, travel the world, returning to their rightful owners.

The French authorities returned to Spain the “Head of a Young Woman” (1906), discovered in early August during customs inspection of a yacht sailing from Corsica to Switzerland. The picture, worth $ 27.4 million, was transported by plane to Madrid, accompanied by police and experts from the Ministry of Culture of Spain. Now the canvas will be stored at the Queen Sofia Center for the Arts and will not be displayed in public.

At the same time, the US government returned another picture of Pablo Picasso but already in France. The "Hairdresser" (La Coiffeuse, 1911) was stolen from a French museum more than ten years ago and was discovered at the end of last year by immigration officials in New Jersey. The picture was packed and sent as a Christmas present from Belgium to New York, estimating the cost of the parcel at $ 37. The abductors and those involved in the transfer of the paintings have not yet been found.
