"Pushing the limits" - an exhibition of Vilen Karakashev in the Gallery near Tsereteli

One of the major modern art centers - the exhibition complex of the Academy of Arts of Russia, created by Zurab Tsereteli, invites you to the exhibition “Pushing the Limits”. Visitors are given the opportunity to see the amazing, marked by indefatigable imagination, works of the honored Russian artist, whose last name is known both in Russia and among art lovers outside it.

Vilen Karakashev presented works of various genres at the exhibition, which showed how limitless the possibilities of the classical school of painting are. About thirty years of the painter’s work encompass the works that make up the exposition of the exhibition. Portraits and posters, compositions of various genres - all exhibits are made in a variety of painting techniques.

After graduating from the Surikov Institute in 1964, where he specialized in poster art, he worked in the Relamfilm association, took part in international exhibitions, and repeatedly became their prize winner. Karakashev’s trips to India and Japan were reflected in the technique of his drawing.

Based on the impressions received in India, a graphic cycle was created in the manner of hyperrealism, inspired by the artist’s enthusiasm for Indian philosophy. Later, Karakashev began to work in a more conventional style and created his own graphic works using colors. Japan has brought new notes to the graphics - in the traditional pencil drawing, an emphasis has been placed on details executed in color.

The works of today are made in various techniques - from pencil to oil painting. The use of new styles and art trends in Karakashev’s work comes from work in the field of film poster, where it was necessary to find images closely related to the style of the film.

The exhibition awaits guests until September 30th.
