"Practice" of artists exhibited in the Kiev municipal gallery "Lavra"

On November 13, an "extreme" exhibition of Ukrainian, Czech and Russian artists "Practice" opened. Extreme training was made by her, which amounted to only one week. For such a short period of time, artists had to sweat their faces to select works suitable for the format and theme of the exhibition.

The theme of the exhibition was the confrontation between "artisans from the profession" and "conceptualists." The debate about the importance of form or content has been going on for centuries. In every era there are reformers who abandon traditional forms. Considering that they are no longer able to embody the realities of modern life and that layer of new meanings that managed to form. And, on the contrary, artisans are absolutely convinced that the artist, without the daily practice and constant development of his skill, loses his grip. He becomes able to express even the simplest emotions, to embody ordinary ideas. Not to mention trying to create a great work.

The basis of the exposition was sketches, sketches and finished works. Such an unusual set allows you to see the different stages of the creation of the picture, as well as not sudden insights that are condescending to the painter in the process of his everyday work. Of particular interest are works that demonstrate the "removal" of the artist from his profession and attempts to get away from techniques for the sake of embodiment of meaning. What comes out of this in practice, visitors will be able to see until November 20.
