The third part of the project "Orthodox Churches" opened at the Winter Theater

SOCHI. In the evening of November 29, the Winter Theater of the World Exhibition opened at the Winter Theater. The exposition of this exhibition is the third part of the Orthodox Churches exhibition project, representing works by the artist from St. Petersburg Alexei Rychkov.

The first two exhibitions of the project have already taken place at the exhibition site of the Winter Theater - the first of them was the display of the collection “Orthodox Churches of Russia”, followed by an exhibition of paintings entitled “Cultural Architecture”. Canvases for exhibitions were presented from a private collection owned by the well-known philanthropist in Sochi and collector Viktor Shirokikh.

At these exhibitions, viewers were able to see more than two hundred paintings. Most of this collection was written by Alexey Rychkov by personal order of Victor Shirokikh. Now everyone has the opportunity, visiting the opened exhibition, to make a visual journey through the countries of the world that have Orthodox churches on their territory.

Irina Romanets, the deputy head of the city, addressing at the opening of the exhibition with welcoming words addressed to the organizers and guests of the project, noted that the creation of so many private paintings on one subject is an extremely rare case.

Alexei Rychkov, after graduating in 1993 from the Academy named after Mukhina, for several years quite successfully lived and worked in various cities of Europe, but then returned to his hometown, where in a short time he became known for his romantic landscapes and portrait works. In the mid-nineties, the artist painted several landscapes of St. Petersburg with views of the famous temples of the city. These landscapes became the basis of a series of paintings included in the unique project “Orthodox churches”.
