Gypsy motifs by the artist Nikolai Karpecki in the gallery "H.L.A.M."

VORONEZH. Employees of "H.L.A.M." - the art gallery of Voronezh, invites you to get acquainted with the painting of Nikolai Karpecki, an artist from Tambov. The exhibition, which housed a dozen works of various genres, is available for viewing throughout November. One of the still lifes, received from the author the name "Fish and Wine", and the organizers of the exhibition used it in the name of the entire exposition.

In it there was a place for portraits of women, where their belonging to the people living around the world is clearly visible. Gypsy themes became key in the works created by Nikolai Karpecki. In addition to portraits and still lifes, the exhibition also housed landscapes where horses graze in the field and the streets are hidden in twilight.

Appeal to the gypsy theme for Nikolai Karpecki is not accidental. His mother, Tamara Stepnaya, was a famous gypsy singer. As a child, Nikolai was a member of the gypsy ensemble, in his composition traveled with tours. He became interested in painting after the family moved to Tambov. Nikolai studied at an art school, graduated from an art school.

The first significant exhibition of works by Nikolai Karpecki, which took place within the walls of the Romen Theater, was the beginning of the recognition of his talent. Most of the paintings from this exhibition were acquired by foreign collectors. Now they can be seen in the halls of galleries in different countries, next to the works of famous artists.

The artist did not come to the opening of the exhibition. Oleg Dautov, the organizer of the exhibition, says that such events do not matter to him. Nikolai Karpetsky is only interested in creativity, and often doesn’t even know about past exhibitions. Organization of shows of the artist’s work is carried out by his friends. The canvases of the opening exhibition belong to Anna Galkina, a close friend of the Karpecki family.
