Theater "Romen" at the festival will show what the "Gypsy Paradise" looks like

MOSCOW. Starting March 5th, the Festival of National Theaters will be held in Moscow. Such a festival takes place, entitled “Moscow is the city of the world”, for the tenth time, however, it is not only the anniversary itself, it was dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the theater master K. S. Stanislavsky celebrated this year.

This year, participation in the festival of thirty theaters has been announced, among which there will be not only Russian groups, but also from other countries. In addition to the works of professionals, viewers will see performances performed by groups of children’s theaters and national studios available at leading theater universities in the capital.

As in all past festivals, this year the main national team of the country - the Roma gypsy theater - takes part in it. As part of the festival, the theater will present the audience with the premiere of the play “Gypsy Paradise”, staged by director P. Bobrov based on the play by V. Starchevsky.

This performance will be a ticket to life for young artists who graduated from a gypsy studio located in the Shchepkinsky school. The head of the studio is Nikolai Slichenko. The plot of the play is based on real events related to the genocide of Roma in the Second World War. However, the performance was staged as a parable, where the war was assigned the role of its tragic background.

The story told in the play is about the personality of a person who fell into the funnel of dramatic events, about love and self-sacrifice characteristic of people, regardless of their nationality. Despite the dramatic events of the play, there are dances and songs in it, traditional in the productions of the Romen Theater.

The festival “Moscow is the city of the world” will be held on April 13th, and the jury of the festival will traditionally be headed by the long-term director of the Romen theater, an artist known throughout the country - Nikolai Slichenko.
