Japanese painting at the exhibition "The Elusive World. From Edo to Tokyo" in the Rostov Museum of Fine Arts

ROSTOV-ON-DON. The first exhibition, which opened this year in the Rostov Museum of Fine Arts, appeared in its halls thanks to the passion of a resident of the city of Ksenia Lazareva, Japanese fine art. Ksenia for many years collected a collection of Japanese painting, presented by the picturesque scrolls "Kakemono". Today in her collection there are more than fifty works that are considered a rarity in Russia.

Now lovers of beauty have a unique opportunity to get acquainted with this rare art form. Ksenia Lazareva decided to show the inhabitants of Rostov-on-Don his collection, which contains paintings and samples of Japanese engraving. The oldest works presented at the exhibition date back to the 18th century.

Valery Ryazanov, senior researcher at the Rostov Museum, worked on the design of the exposition. He did a solid job, because the purpose of this exhibition was not only to show the visitors of the collection, but also to create an atmosphere of the island, a long time shrouded in mystery for the inhabitants of the world. Visitors will get acquainted not only with unusual painting techniques created by masters of the ancient city of Edo, today called Tokyo, but also with the history of Japan.

Opening the exhibition, Valery Vasilyevich noted that this exhibition was an event for the cultural life of the city. If exhibitions by masters of European countries are not uncommon, then the works of Japanese masters in the museum were last shown about 30 years ago.

Acquaintance with the new collection is especially important for young artists, since Japanese painting has huge differences from European. The differences relate not only to plots and performance techniques, but also to the shape of the canvas. An interesting exhibition is for ordinary museum visitors.
