In the Primorsky art gallery of Vladivostok, an exhibition "From Renaissance to Realism"

VLADIVOSTOK. Until July 25, the seaside art gallery is waiting for connoisseurs of painting who want to get acquainted with the works of Western European art. The exhibition, presented under the title “From Renaissance to Realism”, is composed of works stored in the collection of the Primorsky Gallery.

The gallery funds contain a substantial number of paintings belonging to masters of various European countries. However, when creating this exhibition, the gallery staff decided to show their guests works belonging to artists of Italy and the Netherlands. The masters of painting in these countries presented world culture with the most important achievements that significantly changed the visual arts.

According to their work, one can trace how the transition from the canons of iconography to the methods of realistic depiction of objects and man was made, how a variety of genres was formed in painting. Thirteen exhibits present the history of Italian art. The oldest painting, written by an unknown artist in the XIV century, combines the principles of icon painting and developing realistic painting.

Two portraits represent the 16th century. According to them it is noticeable that the portrait genre developed in Italy in various directions. The appeal of many artists to the landscape genre is characteristic of the 18th century. The exposition presents copies of paintings by Italian painters known in world art.

No less interesting are the works of Dutch masters, where there is a variety of genres - portraits, genre painting, still life, sea landscapes, which became popular thanks to the magnificent works of Dutch artists. Most of the works were transferred to Vladivostok from the Hermitage and the Pushkin Museum to them. Pushkin in the thirties of the past century.
