The first festival of Russian children’s books started in Sevastopol

SEVASTOPOL. In the last days of October, with the support of the Russkiy Mir Foundation, the first festival of the Russian children’s book Knigomorie opened.

“For three days, Sevastopol residents will meet with children’s writers, poets, journalists, librarians and public figures who are united by the desire to start a conversation that children’s reading, children’s leisure, children’s book publishing is a matter of national importance,” said Natalya Baeva, head Festival "Book Sea".

12 guests from Moscow were invited to participate in the discussion discussions of the festival, including writers, winners of the All-Russian Competition named after S. Mikhalkova, Tamara Mikheeva and Irina Degtyareva, film director, actor and children’s writer Alexander Adabashyan, animators and animators of the studios Animos and Pilot Natalya Orlova and Sergey Merinov, editor-in-chief of the newspaper Pionerskaya Pravda Mikhail Barannikov and others. “A master class for children’s poets and writers, young and adults, will be conducted by the writer, head of the workshop on children’s literature at the Gorky Literary Institute, Alexander Toroptsev. Director of the Green Hill art project Sergey Korolev will present a collection of poems by children and adolescents brought up in orphanages, boarding schools and social rehabilitation centers in Russian regions, ”Baeva added in her message.

The program of the Bookmore festival is very diverse, with round tables and discussions, presentations of children’s books by Sevastopol and Russian publishers, meetings with children from orphanages, and talk shows on children’s reading on television. According to Baeva herself, the highlight of the festival will be the musical performance Color Dreams, which was specially prepared for the festival’s guests by the young singer Sasha Kostyukova.

The Book Sea festival will end with an award ceremony for the participants of the Book of My Dreams children’s art competition, which was held in Sevastopol on the eve of the forum. “The guys wrote reviews of their favorite books, as well as essays about what a“ dream book ”should be - a total of 87 works. The winners of the competition will be announced by the project manager of the Russian Cultural Foundation “Today is the children, tomorrow is the people!” Olga Butskaya, ”the festival leader said.
