"Children of Vanyushin" at the Maly Theater - an old play with modern problems

The replenishment of the Moscow Maly Theater replenishment - on November 7, the premiere of a new version of the play "Children of Vanyushin" took place. The writer Sergei Alekseev, who wrote under the pseudonym Sergei Naydenov, grew up in a merchant environment, so this world is close to the author. The play, written by Naydenov, used materials from his own biography.

She appeared in the repertoire of the Maly Theater three times, the last time the audience saw her premiere in 1983. The reasons for this demand for the play are in its content. The relevance of the conflict between fathers and children, deeply affected in the play over the years, has not been smoothed out.

The play is written in the genre of psychological drama. In a large Vanyushin family, a situation arises similar to the current problems of many families. Although all the children, except one of the daughters, live in the same house built by the father, everyone has their own life, their secrets. Children, although they love their father, but at the same time the desire to get a lot from him, gives rise to conflicts, and the father does not have the patience to understand them, to see that he grew up not as bad as he sees it.

The director of the play, Vitaly Ivanov, has released many plays over the forty years of his work in the theater. According to him, he had a desire to turn to the play “Children of Vanyushin” a long time ago. This is important for actors who, playing in such a performance, turn to classical, large literature. This is important for the audience, in which the performance awakens a sense of compassion and forces one to reflect on the causes of the tragic events shown in the play.

Famous actors Boris Nevzorov and Lyudmila Polyakova, employed in the play, pleased the audience with the skill of their game.
