"Cyrano de Bergerac" with French charm showed the audience the Maly Theater

MOSCOW. On Sunday, December 16, the Maly Theater of the capital invited spectators to the premiere of the play staged by the play of Cyrano de Bergerac, beloved by theatergoers around the world. The oldest Russian scene has become the place of work on the performance of the French director Georges Lavodan.

This play is not the first to be performed on the stage of the Maly Theater. At a press conference in connection with the new premiere, the theater director Yuri Solomin recalled that in 1985 he played the role of Cyrano, but then it was a performance staged in the style of a Russian theater school, which is very different from the French one.

Today’s performance looks completely different. A production by a French director, a French artist designed the play, and the music for Cyrano de Bergerac was written by a composer from France. Therefore, viewers should be pleased to see a real French play, and this pleasure will become even greater due to the fact that they do not need an interpreter, because Russian actors will play on stage.

Only two months passed from the beginning of rehearsals to the premiere. Director Georges Lavodan worked on the play as it is customary to do on the western stage - quickly, but without losing the quality of the future production. It should be noted that Georges Lavodan has extensive experience in theaters, which brought him fame in his homeland.

He is well acquainted with the profession of actor, director and playwright. He was also involved in administrative work, working as the director of the famous French stage venue - Odeon Theater of Europe. Lavodan also worked in Russian theaters. The Maly Theater got the opportunity to invite a famous French director for the production of Cyrano de Bergerac thanks to his recent entry into the Union of European Theaters.
