"Nocturne" - a new play directed by Kama Ginkas at MTYuZ

The premiere of the play "Nocturne" took place on the stage of the Moscow Youth Theater on January 13. This is a new work by the famous Russian director Kama Ginkas, which he put on the play of one of the most prominent American playwrights Adam Rapp. The plays written by Adam Rapp are staged in many theaters in America and European countries.

After the premiere of the play “Nocturne” at the American Repertoire Theater, the performance was among the ten best performances of the 2000-2001 season and was awarded the Eliot Norton Award, which was awarded for an outstanding new script, and the novel “Missing a piano” by Adam Rupp received recognition as the best youth book. The themes of the works of Adam Rapp are of interest to the younger generation of readers.

The play “Nocturne” for the production was chosen by Kama Ginkas himself. The translation of the play into Russian was commissioned by director John Friedman. The role of the protagonist is played by Igor Gordin, who has repeatedly worked with Ginkas. Igor Gordin has been working in the Moscow Youth Theater since 1993, immediately after graduating from GITIS. For acting, he received the Golden Mask for best male performance in the play Meek, and for the role of Gurov in Lady with the Dog, Gordin was awarded the Seagull Prize.

The story told in the play “Nocturne” is a piercing story of an unfulfilled dream, about how easy it is to break human relations. Words that have not been uttered, an unfulfilled life, is a story about how easy it is to kill music that sounds inside a person with just one wrong move, and how hard the reckoning for mistakes made is.

The leading actor himself said that he no longer considers himself a young hero, such as his character, but with such a unique director as Kama Ginkas, any role becomes a new step forward.
