The premiere of the performance "White Guard" in the musical theater of Yekaterinburg

The Yekaterinburg Musical Theater presented its new work to the audience - on the stage of the theater, the premiere of the musical drama "The White Guard", created based on Bulgakov’s novel, took place. The texts and music of the play were written by famous Yekaterinburg authors - the poet Arkady Zastyrets and composer Vladimir Kobekin, who have already successfully implemented several joint projects. The performance was staged by people’s artist Kirill Strezhnev

The official name of the theater is Sverdlovsk Musical Comedy. However, there has long been an idea to change the designation of the theater genre. Indeed, the name “musical theater” is more suitable for the repertoire of stage masters, which was once again confirmed by the new premiere. The theater has already successfully shown on its stage its own vision of complex works. The staging of a light opera based on Gogol’s “Dead Souls” brought the theater the highest theater prize.

The musical comedy of Yekaterinburg has long ceased to be a purely entertainment theater, and the production of "The White Guard" was another step towards topics that always excite the public. It is in this work of Bulgakov that it is clearly shown how close are the state and human problems to each other.

The decoration of the performance is expressively decided - the cold station, in which the Turbins’ apartment appears along the course of the performance, indicated by a table with a lampshade above it. The plastic and music of the play is aggressive, but makes a strong impression on the audience. A crowd full of hopelessness on stage embodies the idea that any political force, regardless of the color of its flag, has always brought grief to Russia.

Talented actors are engaged in the play, only most of the play is occupied by mass scenes, therefore the characters’ characters are only outlined.
