In Yekaterinburg, the premiere of the play directed by Vladimir Pankov "War"

YEKATERINBURG. The regional program of the festival. Chekhov opened in the Sverdlovsk drama on April 7 with the performance of Vladimir Pankov’s “War”. The show was preceded by a press conference. The organizer of the tour, Tatyana Samoilova, representing the Angazhement art holding, thanked the leaders of the Sverdlovsk Drama Theater, noting that the premier could not be shown in Yekaterinburg without their help.

Then the director Vladimir Pankov told those present about the creation of the play “War”. Three productions were used in his production - the novel “The Death of a Hero”, written by the English writer Richard Aldington, Homer’s poem “Iliad” and “Notes of a cavalryman”, authored by Nikolai Gumilyov.

This performance was conceived about three years ago, becoming a joint project of the Chekhov and Edinburgh festivals. Unfortunately, today’s events have made this performance extremely relevant. They don’t shoot on the stage, they don’t show military operations. The heroes of the play share their thoughts, discussing what the war can lead to, how it relates to the fate of people. The performance is filled with human feelings and emotions.

The play raises questions inviting viewers to ponder whether anything in the world has changed since Homer wrote his Iliad. Starring Evgeny Simonov, Igor Yasulovich. People’s artists spoke of the performance as a unique work of talented actors. The first to see this production was the residents of Edinburgh, where a theater festival was held last August.

In Russia, the "War" has already seen the audience of Tyumen and Yaroslavl. Now he was presented in Yekaterinburg. This year it is planned to tour this unique performance in St. Petersburg, and then in the Russian capital.
