The play "Encyclopedia" tells about the personal life of the French philosopher

VORONEZH. On December 26, the Alexei Koltsov Academic Theater presents to the public the premiere performance "Encyclopedia" staged by the artistic director of the theater Vladimir Petrov. The play was based on the famous play The Libertine, written by a modern playwright from France, Eric-Emmanuel Schmitt. The play tells the audience about the life of the great philosopher Denis Didro.

This play has been staged repeatedly in many Russian theaters, and in France even served as the plot for the movie Libertin. The playwright is well known in the theater world - he is the author of seventeen plays. His work is appreciated - among the five prestigious awards deserved by Schmitt, the Theater Prize from the French Academy and the Moliere Prize.

The playwright decided not to accidentally write a play about the life of the great philosopher. He thoroughly studied the biography of Didro and even defended his dissertation, the theme of which was called "Didro and Metaphysics." However, the play became an exceptionally successful, easy and laid-back comedy, telling about only one day in the life of Didro, shown not by the classical philosopher, author of articles for the French encyclopedia, but by a completely modern man.

He not only does not see anything shameful in his adventures (which, as they say, was admired even by the greatest womanizer Casanova), but he also finds an excuse for amorous adventures. The day described in the play, Diderot had to devote to work on the article, but the cycle of women coming to him gives rise to many comic situations.

The Voronezh Drama Theater only returned to its historic building in the spring after its reconstruction, so many viewers will be interested not only in the premiere performance, but also in the updated interior of the theater.
