The opening of the "Year of Stanislavsky" began within the walls of the Chekhov Moscow Art Theater

MOSCOW. In honor of the birthday of Konstantin Stanislavsky, a great director, teacher and actor, at the Chekhov Moscow Art Theater today, on January 17th, the Year of Stanislavsky starts. It is on this day that Konstantin Sergeyevich turns 150 years old. The celebrations dedicated to the great director begin in the famous Moscow Art Theater not by accident, because Stanislavsky founded this theater.

Therefore, the Moscow Art Theater decided to celebrate the anniversary on a grand scale - they devoted all day to their founder. A memorial exhibition dedicated to the Stanislavsky actor will solemnly begin to work in the theater building. The exhibition features photographs depicting Konstantin Sergeyevich in 29 roles performed by him, theatrical costumes. Here, notes written by the director’s hand and a handwritten version of the director’s brilliant work “Work of the actor on himself” were placed.

Immediately after the opening of the exhibition, a press conference will be held, and the first day of the anniversary year will end with the premiere of the performance “Out of the System”, telling about the fate of the legendary founder of the Moscow Art Theater. The play was based on a play written by Mikhail Durnenkov using documentary materials. The plot of the performance is based on the dialogues of Stanislavsky with his contemporaries - colleagues, followers and opponents.

The production was carried out by Kirill Serebryannikov, who invited famous directors and actors, Russian and foreign theaters to perform the main roles. A documentary chronicle, similar to a film only shown on the stage, will help viewers see a living Stanislavsky, and not a legend.

In the performance, not only acting work was used - there will be music and video on the screen. There will be no templates, because the play is called "Out of the system"
