The new stage of the Stanislavsky Electrotheatre opened with the performance "Colonel Bird"

MOSCOW. On November 24, the Stanislavsky Electrotheatre received the first spectators at its new stage, located in the building on Belorusskaya. Previously, this room was a workshop of an electric machine-building plant. Now the former production building has acquired a well-equipped transformer stage, designed for young experimental directors to stage experimental performances.

The first performance shown to the audience was the work of the director Roman Drobot. The young director chose the play of the Bulgarian playwright Hristo Boychev “Colonel-Bird” for staging. The author wrote this peculiar story, the reason for the creation of which was the military conflict in Yugoslavia, in 1997.

The play was immediately translated into many languages, it was staged in many stages of the world. The Colonel Bird owed such popularity to the extreme relevance of the test, which was especially evident against the backdrop of the tragic events taking place today. Each of the directors who addressed this play, emphasized in the production on a topic of concern to him.

For some, loneliness became this topic, for others it was a war that produced lunatics. In the performance of Roman Drobot, the walls of the building become the walls of an abandoned monastery, where all the forgotten patients of the psychiatric hospital live. In the madness of war, nobody needs them.

Their life is turned over by the accidental appearance of a UN aircraft, mistakenly dropping a container on a monastery where a military uniform is packed. For the Russian military, who is among the patients, who lost their minds after the death of the family, this accident became a chance to return to the outside world. The peacekeeping unit he created decides to go to Strasbourg. The finale of the play is open - even the director does not know whether the squad will reach the goal.
