The play, staged ten years ago by Peter Fomenko, is again on stage

MOSCOW. In the "Workshop of Peter Fomenko" an unusual premiere took place. The performance “Mad of Chaillot”, staged by the Master ten years ago, was revived with the help of director Kirill Pirogov. The performance appeared in the repertoire of the theater at a time when the team worked in the building of the former cinema "Kiev".

Four years later, the play disappeared from the poster of the theater, as is supposed, due to the departure of the actress Irina Pegova, who played a very important role in the production. It was said that Pyotr Fomenko expressed a desire to restore the play, but he did not have enough time.

Only now, thanks to the efforts of Kirill Pirogov, the play reappeared in the theater’s repertoire. The new production is not an exact repetition of the previous, original masterpiece. The cast has changed, although wonderful actresses are playing on the stage. In addition, the scenography has changed dramatically.

If at the time the performance was played in the cinema building, the audience, following the characters of the production, would move from one room to another. Now, spectators in the large hall of the new theater building, in which the team has been working only since 2008, are watching the scene on a comfortable basis.

Kirill Pirogov approached the restoration of the play carefully. He himself had previously been a participant in the play, so with a special feeling he approached the recreation of the atmosphere that reigned on the stage. Records of rehearsals conducted by Pyotr Fomenko have been watched more than once. It helped in the restoration of the master’s work and the fact that more than half of the actors involved in the restored performance were participants in the author’s production.

The large hall of the theater is very spacious, but at the premiere there was not a single empty seat. The theater decided that the name of Pyotr Naumovich Fomenko must be on the theatrical poster.
