In Vakhtangovsky will present a book of memoirs of his oldest actress

MOSCOW. In the theater to them. On January 23, Vakhtangov will host a presentation of books telling about the theater and about the people who became its legends. One of them, written by the oldest actress Galina Konovalova, is called “Vakhtang legends”. This book is based on essays published over several years in the Theater Magazine, where Galina Konovalova still maintains the section Legend of the Stage.

In total, the magazine published more than two dozen essays telling not only about the fate of the actor, but also about the life of the theater, the life of the pre-war capital. Thanks to the literary talent of the actress, these essays reflected the amazing atmosphere of the theater, well known to both the artists themselves and the long-term fans of the theater.

The memoirs of Galina Konovalova begin from the time when she entered the theater school at the age of 17, now known as the famous University named after Schukin. In them, she talks about her teachers, about their homes, where a young student and her fellow students could see famous actors.

The second part of the memoirs begins in 1938, when actors representing the second generation of Vakhtagites, many of whom are alive only in memory, settled in the house built near the theater. The head of the Vakhtangov Theater Rimas Tuminas now lives in the same house.

The second literary work presented by the theater tells about the formation of the personality and talent of Rimas Tuminas. Grazhina Baykshtite, who wrote this book, came up with a very poetic title for her - “In the Garden of Rimas Tuminas”. Fans of the work of the famous director will be interested to learn about the beginning of his work, to read Tuminas’s thoughts about his profession. The book includes interviews with theater actors, where the director staged performances.
