The first events of the Swedish Spring project took place at the Pskov Drama Theater

PSKOV. The project "Swedish Spring" was opened on March 25 with the performance "Marmalade", intended for young spectators. He was shown on the stage of the Pskov drama. Its author is the choreographer Claire Parsons. Before the start of the performance, a press conference was held at the theater, where the program of the unique project presented in Pskov was discussed.

This project was born a year ago. In April last year, Vasily Senin (who has now left the post of artistic director of the Pskov drama) signed a cooperation agreement with Ann Marie Engel, head of the Theater Union of Sweden. This project was supported by the Embassy of Sweden. Now the parties have begun to implement the agreement.

The project provides for several stages - the joint creation of a repertoire performance, the opening of the exhibition, the publication of a book that will include translations of plays by modern Swedish playwrights, as well as a special program designed for children.

During the meeting, Vasily Senin noted the importance of the ongoing project. He said that "Swedish Spring" is a kind of slice of what is happening now in the theater world of Sweden. Then the ex-artistic director received a proposal to hold a week of the Pskov theater in Sweden.

At the same time, Senin recalled that other cities of the North-West of Russia also claimed to hold the "Swedish Spring", but the cultural potential of Pskov allowed the city to outperform its competitors. The director also said that not too much new is happening in the cultural space of the city, and the “Swedish Spring” provides an opportunity to communicate with new people.

On the afternoon of March 26th, a video showing of the play “Utopia” staged by the Swedish director Matthias Anderson at the Bakka Theater took place in the drama theater. Before the show, the director met with the public and showed a presentation telling about the creation of the play.
