SUZDAL. For the 20th time in the city of Suzdal, Vladimir Region, the Russian Animated Film Festival kicked off. The film forum is supported by the Union of Cinematographers of Russia, the administration of the Vladimir Region, the regional cinema center and the Ministry of Culture of Russia. This year the festival program includes 85 paintings with a total time of about 12 hours, as well as traditional non-competitive events, discussions and round tables, creative meetings and master classes with the best children’s writers and animators, as well as other entertaining events.

As part of the 20th Russian festival of animated films, seven screenings are planned. Among them are a retrospective of the winning films of previous festivals, films dedicated to the 70th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War, as well as a special program called Focus on the East, in which Chinese, Japanese and Korean animated films will be presented to viewers.

The main competition program of the Suzdal Animation Festival is divided into several categories - 33 films are presented in the short films competition, 14 in the competition for the best openings, 19 series, 12 student works and 7 paintings of applied animation. In total, 220 works from authors from all over Russia were submitted for participation in the main competition.

Within the framework of the film festival, guests and its participants will be able to watch new films by famous directors of animated films - “About the Soldier” Valentin Telegin, “Andrey Khizhin and His Woe” by Alexei Demin, “Ninth Wave” by Alexei Turkus, “We Can’t Live Without Space” by Konstantin Bronzit, “A very lonely rooster” by Leonid Shmelkov and many others.

Traditionally, the festival will host a charity auction of the Association of Animated Films, as well as the names of the nominees for the first National Animation Prize, which will be presented on Russian Animation Day, April 8th. Recall that the film forum takes place in the Suzdal shopping center from March 18 to 23, 2015.
