Theater named after Obraztsova completed his tour in St. Petersburg with the play "The Old Senior and ..."

ST. PETERSBURG. In the “Alexandrinka”, on the New Stage of the theater, on July 17 the St. Petersburg tour of the most famous puppet theater in the world, bearing the name of Sergei Obraztsov, ended. In total, Petersburg viewers were able to see four performances intended for an adult audience. For these performances, the theater’s website has a special section entitled “For Those Who Have Grown Up”.

The tour to St. Petersburg began with the famous performance shown to the audience on the BDT stage on July 2, on his birthday. "Extraordinary concert" on this day turned 70 years old. All seven decades of his life, this puppet show has enjoyed unchanged success with the audience. The “Extraordinary Concert” is noted by the Guinness Book of Records as a puppet show with the highest attendance in the world.

Another performance presented at the BDT was the ever-lasting “Figaro’s Wedding”. Boris Konstantinov, the director of the play, simultaneously gathered dolls and live artists on stage, giving them the opportunity to brighten up the length of the monologues with acting mischief.

Fans of puppet art saw the following performances already in Alexandrinka-2. The performance “Someone Nose”, staged by the French director Eric de Sarria, using the motifs of Gogol’s novel “The Nose”, was necessary to be shown in St. Petersburg. After all, the ghost town described by Gogol plays a special role in the play.

At the end of the tour, the actors of the Obraztsov Theater showed the magnificent performance “The Old Senior and…”, staged according to the short stories by Gabriel Marquez. The roles in this performance are played by cane puppets, and the artists are their full partners who put their soul into dolls. Each of the short stories is presented by an independent performance - melodrama, satire, concert.
