All-Russian Exhibition-Competition "Fairy Tale in a Tree"

On March 12, the Second All-Russian Exhibition-Competition of Artistic Carving "A Tale in a Tree", organized by the Irkutsk creative association "Arka" with the support of the Presidential Grants Fund and the Irkutsk Art museum.

The exposition presents more than 100 competitive works submitted to the jury from more than 30 masters from different regions of the Irkutsk, Yaroslavl, Pskov regions, as well as the Republic of Buryatia. At the opening of the exhibition, creative teams from the Irkutsk Region will perform, and an interactive master class on wood carving will be held. Within a month, all works will be available for viewing by the audience and the jury. The results of the competition will be announced on the closing day of the exhibition - April 11. At the same time, prizes will be awarded in several nominations.

Having passed through the centuries, the art of artistic wood carving is experiencing a rebirth today. Modern craftsmen resurrect this unique ancient craft, bring fresh ideas, new elements to it, revive interest in this art and pass on their skills to their students. Wood carving is embodied in many forms: decorating pieces of furniture, and decorating houses, churches and temples, creating large carved panels and decorative sculptures. The talent of the craftsmen to handle the natural qualities of the material allowed them to create inimitable and unique pieces.
