The interaction of art and reality - street artists in Yekaterinburg were given a chance to prove themselves

On August 29, an unprecedented event took place in Yekaterinburg - city authorities allowed street artists to paint the western wall of the railway station.

The idea to provide young masters with the opportunity to prove themselves has long been brewing in the administration of the Sverdlovsk Railway. Indeed, every year workers have to destroy unauthorized drawings and graffiti, spending over 120 thousand rubles on this. However, deciding on such a significant step as providing the station building as a creative platform was not easy.

Back in 2010, an experiment was conducted when the artists were given an electric train car, which acquired a very unconventional appearance. One of its sides began to resemble a flowering clearing, and the second - an urban landscape. This was a kind of symbol of the purpose of the railway - to overcome space and connect two different worlds - a city and a village.

Of course, the leadership of the Sverdlovsk Railways, before allowing artists to work, approved the sketch and color scheme, which is quite logical, given the fact that the station building is the face of the city for all visitors.

The concept that the railway was the road of dreams, taking people to the future, full of new perspectives, was chosen as a concept. As a result, a rather vivid plot of the picture appeared in which a little boy watches a train running along a toy railway and presents real travels and adventures waiting for him in the big world. The completed picture will become not only a new city attraction, but also a gift for the 175th anniversary of the Sverdlovsk Railway!
